Peroneus Brevis Tendon Variant Insertion on the Calcaneus.
Insertion of the peroneus brevis tendon normally occurs at the lateral aspect of the fifth metatarsal base. However, there is new evidence that congenital variant insertion of the tendon on the calcaneal peroneal tubercle occurs in a small segment of the population. We report a case of 24-year old male presenting with non-traumatic ankle pain who underwent ankle magnetic resonance imaging. Imag...
متن کاملTwo cases of peroneus brevis tendon tear.
A longitudinal tear of the peroneal tendon is thought to be the result of repetitive peroneal subluxation. However, this report documents two cases of longitudinal split of the peroneus brevis tendon that had no peroneal tendon subluxation. Primary suture was performed. Subluxation of the peroneal tendons was not identified surgically in either case.
متن کاملRepair of Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation.
PURPOSE To report 22 patients who underwent repair of compound Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation. METHODS Records of 6 women and 19 men aged 21 to 42 (mean, 28) years who underwent repair of compound Achilles tendon ruptures with peroneus brevis tendon augmentation were reviewed. All the wounds were transverse/oblique, minimally contaminated, and could be close...
متن کاملGiant Cell Tumor of the Peroneus Brevis Tendon Sheath
INTRODUCTION Giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath is most commonly found in the flexor aspect of hand and wrist and is rare in the foot and ankle. CASE REPORT A 49-year-old lady noticed a right lateral foot mass for 10 years. Magnetic resonance imaging suggested that the mass is originated from the peroneal tendons. The mass was excised and intra-operative findings showed that the tumor came...
متن کاملThe Effect Of Peroneus Brevis Tendon Anatomy On Stability Of Fractures At The Fifth Metatarsal Base
BACKGROUND Nonunion of classic Jones fractures has typically been attributed to the precarious vascular anatomy of the proximal fifth metatarsal. Despite this theory, the operative treatment of these fractures utilizes biomechanical solutions. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the influence of the peroneus brevis (PB) tendon on the stability of fractures of the proximal fifth met...
